Shan M. Hager, age 57, of Monroe, died after a lengthy battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her home. She was born on July 1, 1956 in Monroe, Wisconsin the daughter of Samuel and Jeanne (Collins) Humbel.

Shan was a 1976 graduate of Monroe High School and of Black Hawk Tech.

Shan and Richard Hager were married on October 13, 1984 at St. John's United Church of Christ.

She owned and operated her own cleaning service for many years and Magnolia Studio Framing and Gallery, also being a talented stained glass artist.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Shan was a Big Sister; and was sincerely committed to taking care of elderly who could not do so themselves. She had a lifelong love for animals, rescuing strays for decades; it was not uncommon to go out in the morning and find a kitten someone had left in the tree in front of the house. Shan was a dedicated hockey mom, but most of all her greatest love was for her boys and her family; she will be greatly missed.

Shan is survived by her husband, Rich of Monroe, sons, Dan and Jess Hager of Milwaukee, brother, Greg (Barb) Humbel of Ann Arbor, MI; sister, Lynn (Scott) Fuller of FL; Chris (Jesse Waters) Holcomb of Madison; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave.
