CASSVILLE - Selma E. "Betty" (Dearth) Anderson, age 67, of Cassville, joined the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on August 29, 1941 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Lester and Germaine (McKillip) Dearth. Betty graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1959 and attended Green County Teachers College. On January 27, 1969, Betty married Gene Anderson in Bushnell, IL. She worked for United Telephone Company for several years before working at Advance Transformer for 24 years. Betty was currently working at HomeCare Select in Cassville, WI. Betty enjoyed fishing, hunting and searching for ginseng.
Betty is survived by her husband, Gene, Cassville, WI; five step-children: Gary (Karen) Anderson, Monroe, WI, Christina (Keith) Jelle, Belleville, WI, Lonna Arn, Monticello, WI, Laura Anderson, Lodi, WI and Bill (Connie) Anderson, Monticello, WI; 13 step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren; her mother, Germaine Metz, Monroe, WI; six brothers: Frank (Lila) Dearth, Wiota, WI, Jim (Jo Ann) Dearth, Friendship, WI, Bill (Nancy) Dearth, Oregon, WI, Roger (Bonnie) Dearth, Clinton, WI, John (Al) Dearth, Bellevue, NE and Robert (Cheryl) Dearth, Monroe, IN; three sisters: Margaret Wenger, Monroe, WI, Karen (Pat) Boyce, Clinton, WI and Mary Ann (Tom) Inman, Clinton, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Dearth; her step-father, Joe Metz; a brother-in-law, LaVerne Wenger and her best friend, Berdetta Reed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at Christ Lutheran Church (250 S. Grant St.) in Lancaster with Reverend David Froemming officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. There will be a lunch served in Fellowship Hall following the services. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
