Ruth C. Hoesly, age 92, of Monroe, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the University Hospital in Madison. She was born on March 14, 1917, in Adams Township, Green County, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Schiesser) Matzinger. She attended the Dividing Ridge country school. Ruth and Walter F. Hoesly were married on November 10, 1935, at St. John's United Church of Christ, by Rev. Schuh. She farmed with her husband Walter in the Monticello area, moving to Monroe in 1956, when she began working for St. Clare Hospital and Oaktron Industries, from which she retired. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Ruth was a very talented craft worker, also enjoyed playing cards, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Roger F. (Donna) Hoesly of Monroe; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister, Belva Bakirtjy of Chicago, Illinois; nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Walter, October 1977; son, Donald Hoesly, May 2002; sisters, Shirley Matthews, February 1993, Viola Corcoran, May 2003; brothers-in-law, Chester Matthews, November 2006 and John L. Corcoran, November 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. William T. Mike Heath, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Ruth's memory.
