Rosemarye A. Showers, age 82, of Monroe, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Rosemarye was born on January 13, 1936 in Monroe, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Figi) Koch. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1954 and married Leland Showers Sr. on June 28, 1954 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Rosemarye and Leland farmed in Clarno Township from 1961 until 1998. She also worked as a customer service manager at the Swiss Colony for many years until retiring. She was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ and was a member of the City Country Mixers Homemakers and the American Legion Auxiliary to Zilmer Riley Post Unit 84. Rosemarye was always active and enjoyed volunteering at the V.A. Hospital and Green County Welcome Center.
She is survived by three children, Leland (Connie) Showers Jr. of Monroe, Anna (David) Davis of Freeport, IL; and Eugene (Brenda) Showers of Monroe; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four brothers, Charles (Nancy) Koch of Monroe, Franklyn (Mary Ann) Koch of Monroe, Richard (Sandy) Koch of Paris, TN, and John (Cheryl) Koch of Knoxville, TN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Elizabeth Koch; husband, Leland in 1999; a son, Wendell in 2005; and an infant brother, Frank.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel-Hawthorne Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Rosemarye's name.
