Rolyn R. Smith, age 72 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 surrounded by those who loved him most at Atrium Post Care Center in Mineral Point, WI. He was born June 2, 1943 at McConnell and McGreane Hospital in Darlington the son of Howard and Ann (Ray) Smith. Rolyn graduated from Darlington High School. He was united in marriage to Donna Kay Olson on November 27, 1965 in Darlington. Rolyn lived on the family homestead his whole life where he dairy farmed and later crop farmed. He owned and operated Rolyn Smith Trucking where he drove his own milk truck for 40 years and his grain trucks for 20 years. He was a dedicated worker and drove right up until the day he was admitted into the hospital.

Rolyn is survived by his wife Donna at home; two children: Debra Smith and Steven (Valerie) Smith both of rural Darlington; six grandchildren: Lacie Lynn and Hannah Ann Smith, and Tyler, Ava, Brady, and Parker Smith; and two sisters: Janice Schadewalt of Darlington and Jeri Woodward of Shullsburg, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rolyn was a member of Southwest Wisconsin Draft Horse Club, John Deere Club, and Antique Club in Darlington. Rolyn loved spending time with his grandchildren, as he shared his passion for farming, driving his horses, and attending tractor pulls and horse shows at the Coliseum with them. He was the happiest when he was working or spending time outdoors. Rolyn also enjoyed collecting antique tractors. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Darlington United Methodist Church (546 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Angela Steinhauer officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
