Robert Ward Penniston, age 85 of rural Argyle, passed away December 31, 2010 at Lafayette County Memorial Hospital, Darlington, WI. Robert farmed his entire life on the Penniston home farm. In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball. Robert also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going on vacations to Canada, attending antique steam engine and threshing shows, and going to Steve's Garage in Argyle everyday for the local "gossip". Robert was born May 30, 1925 in Freeport, IL, the son of Ward and Alice (Crowell) Penniston. He graduated from Argyle High School with the class of 1943. On June 10, 1947 he married Eva Robertson at the parsonage in Juda , WI.

Robert is survived by his wife: Eva; their children: Linda Flanagan, Darlington, WI, and Gregory (Jada) Penniston, rural Argyle; four grandchildren: Matthew (Ann) Flanagan, Darlington, Lance (Jeanne) Penniston, Burlington, WI, Amber (Dan) Kuebli, Monroe, WI, and Josh Penniston, rural Argyle; four great-grandchildren: Garrett and Dakotah Flanagan, Darlington, and Deacan and Elise Kuebli, Monroe. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Audrey Durtschi; brother-in-law: Alvin Durtschi; and son-in-law: Patrick Flanagan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle (60 Breeze Terrace, Argyle, WI, 53504) with Rev. Craig Conklin of Argyle Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Argyle. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Robert's name.
