Robert J. Hoeper Sr., age 83 of Brodhead, died Monday, December 15, 2014 at his home. He was born on November 9, 1931 in Brodhead; the son of Bernard and Charlotte (Stephens) Hoeper. He attended Brodhead Schools. Robert served in the Navy during the Korean War. Robert married Nola M. Anderson in September of 1954 in Brodhead. He later married Beverly A. Schroeder on February 29, 1996 in Rockford, IL. He worked at Gerneral Motors for many years, retiring in 1985. Robert also had a love for farming which he continued to do after he retired. He was a member of Brodhead American Legion and the Monroe V F W. He enjoyed working on cars, rummage sales, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Brodhead; 4 sons: Robert J. Hoeper Jr. of Portland, OR, Steven B. Hoeper of Juda, Bradley S. Hoeper of Brodhead, and Alex B. Hoeper of Wisconsin Dells; 6 step-children; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Thomas of Evansville. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nola, brother, George Hoeper, 2 sisters, Loretta Friedly and Katherine Wilde.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at EVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Brodhead.
