Robert C. 'Bob' Bolender

Robert C. "Bob" Bolender, 72, of the Cedarville-Orangeville area, died Tuesday in F.H.N. Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born November 14, 1935 in Freeport, the son of Ray C. and Ann (O'Rourke) Bolender.

Mr. Bolender was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany.

Bob was a lifelong Stephenson County dairy farmer. His memberships included, the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Moose Lodge, Eagle's Club # 679, V.F.W. and Cedarville Snow Travelers. In 2002, he received the Illinois Snowmobiler of the Year Award. A member of the Cedarville Volunteer Fire Department for many years, he served as trustee and Fire Chief.

Bob's hobbies included playing cards and snowmobiling.

Mr. Bolender is survived by his two daughters, Candace (David) Koertner of Freeport and Jodie (Tom) Smith of Arlington Hts., Illinois; his sister, Norma Enzler of Freeport; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Aeling, Justin (Amber) Koertner, Taryn Smith, Brendon Smith and Taylor Smith; two great-granddaughters, Makayla and Emily Aeling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Bolender and his companion, Maribelle Bolender.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Deacon Dick Dinneen of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Cedarville Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his name.
