Robert "Bob" Flint
Robert "Bob" Flint, age 80, of Argyle, WI, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born June 20, 1931, in Blanchardville, WI, the son of Charlie and Gertrude (Wyttenbach) Flint. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps from August 9, 1951 until August 8, 1953 as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Zimmerman on April 28, 1956, at Lamont United Methodist Church. Bob lived in Argyle most of his life. He worked for Phillipson's Garage for many years as a John Deere Mechanic. Bob later worked for the Village of Argyle in the Electrical Plant for a number of years. In 1975, he worked at P.W. Ryan Sons, Inc. in Janesville until his retirement in 1981.
Bob is survived by one daughter: Connie Flint of Monroe, WI; one sister-in-law: Joan Flint of Monona, WI; one sister: Helen Gilbertson of Monroe; three nieces; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Mary in March of 1996; two brothers: Melvin Flint in October of 2008 and Donald Flint in 1983; one step-brother: James Flint; one nephew: Ricky Flint in 1984; and his special friend, Duke, a Chesapeake Labrador.
Bob was a past member of Argyle Rod and Gun Club and Argyle Fire Department. He was a member of the Cecil-Jones VFW Post # 2312 of Monroe. Bob enjoyed restoring gas engines and sawing lumber.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 60 Breeze Terrace in Argyle with Rev. Larry Hakes of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle with military rites to be accorded by Cecil-Jones VFW Post # 2312 of Monroe.
