Robert "Bob" Dwight Rackow

Robert "Bob" Dwight Rackow, age 85 of Monroe, WI passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home. He was born July 9, 1930 in Winslow, IL the son of Lester and Mabel (Smith) Rackow. Bob was united in marriage to Sonja Mae Reinmann on June 7, 1958 at St. John's Church in Monroe. He lived in Jordan Center in rural Argyle, WI where he farmed. Bob worked at a number of cheese plants in Monroe and also at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe as one of the grounds keepers. In 1973 he and Sonja moved to Monroe where they have resided since.

Bob is survived by his wife Sonja of Monroe; two brothers: Elwin (Verla) Rackow and Duane Rackow both of Monroe; three sisters: Marian Rufer and Betty Rackow both of Monroe, and Margaret Marquis of Madison, WI; a special niece: Sandy Lincicum of Monroe; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Leland Rackow.

Bob was a member of the Moose Lodge in Monroe. He joined the U.S. Army in 1954, fought in the Korean War where he served as a Corporal, and was honorably discharged in 1956. Bob enjoyed bowling, playing pool, senior league softball, fishing, pheasant hunting, and watching western movies. He loved to travel, especially to Branson, MO every year for his and Sonja's anniversary. Bob will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (801 Milwaukee Street, Argyle). Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe where military graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #84 of Monroe. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until 12:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
