Monroe Police

MONROE - A 14-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, both of Monroe, were referred to Green County Human Services for habitual truancy at Monroe Middle School, 1510 13th St., at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, May 30.

• Police took a report at 2:13 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, that a person in the 2600 block of 2nd Avenue fell victim to a cellphone banking scam that is sweeping Green and Rock counties. An investigation revealed that this automated call, which asks for a person's personal banking or Social Security numbers, originated in Romania. Law enforcement agencies in the area are warning residents not to give out any personal information to a company unless they initiate the contact.

• Skateboarders were warned to keep off school property at 8:02 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Monroe Middle School, 1510 13th St.

• The theft of a bicycle from a garage in the 2300 block of 13th Avenue was reported at 8:39 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. It is a 26-inch gray men's bike, worth about $150.

• Warnings to remove vehicles parked on lawns were issued Tuesday and Wednesday, May 29 and 30, to property owners in the 1900 block of 17th Avenue, 1900 and 2200 blocks of 6th Street and 2200 block of 1st Street.

Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Jerry Montes, 49, Beloit, was cited for driving without a valid license after deputies responded at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, to a car vs. deer crash on Wisconsin 69 just south of Exeter Crossing Road in the Town of New Glarus. Montes reported no injuries after a deer collided with his vehicle, which was severely damaged and towed from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Ziad Silleh Bernichi, 55, Chino Hills, Calif., was cited for speeding at 12:42 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, on U.S. 151 in the Town of Belmont.

• Leslie K. Shalabi, 40, Madison, was cited for speeding at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, on U.S. 151 in the Town of Belmont.

• Dusty J. Jentz, 18, Platteville, was cited for speeding at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, on U.S. 151 in the Town of Belmont.

• Evangela D. Gullens, 42, Madison, was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license and without vehicle insurance at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, on U.S. 151 in the Town of Belmont.
