Monroe Police

MONROE - Amy L. Webber, 38, Monroe, was cited for theft after police responded at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, to an allegation that she stole grocery items from Piggly Wiggly, 725 8th St., while employed there.

On Friday, July 19:

• A log chain was reported found at 11:42 a.m. in the area of 17th Street and 13th Avenue and brought to the police station, where the owner may identify and claim it.

• Miscellaneous items, including a wallet, bag and cellphone, were reported stolen at 3:40 p.m. out of an unsecured vehicle in the 1100 block of 16th 1/2 Street.

• Police responded to a complaint at 3:40 p.m. of a man and woman fighting in a vehicle parked in the Woodford State Bank parking lot in the 400 block of West 8th Street. Police found no grounds for a domestic abuse arrest, but warned the couple to take their fight elsewhere.

• A domestic dispute that occurred the previous night was reported at 4:47 p.m. at 32nd Avenue and 6th 1/2 Street. Police found no grounds for a domestic abuse arrest.

• Police responded to a complaint at 5:43 p.m. of skateboarders by the historic courthouse downtown. The skateboarders were gone by the time police arrived.

• Police responded to a complaint at 10:24 p.m. of people setting off fireworks in the 400 block of West 21st Street. No one was located.

On Saturday, July 20:

• Staff at Friendly Inn, 1335 17th St., called 911 at 1:23 a.m. to report an unwanted person in the tavern. The person had left by the time police arrived.

• It was reported at 5:12 a.m. that someone was throwing eggs at McDonald's, 425 8th St.

• A woman came into the police station at 9:05 a.m. and asked to speak with an officer about ongoing domestic abuse problems at home. None of the incidents she described showed grounds for an arrest, but the officer referred her to a domestic violence agency for resources and help.

• An officer on patrol at 1:59 p.m. in the area of 11th Street and 10th Avenue found two stray dogs, both short-haired and possible pit mixes. One was caught and taken to the Green County Humane

• A kitten was found in the 1500 block of 18th Street at 3:51 p.m. and taken to the Green County Humane Society.

• A housesitter in the 1600 block of 17th Street reported at 4:31 p.m. that neighbor kids, an 11-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl, were going into the residence while no one was home. No damages were found. The children were referred to Juvenile Intake for charges of trespassing.

• A possible theft of cash from a purse was reported at 5:45 p.m. at the Green County fairgrounds. The owner had asked a friend to hold the purse while she was on a carnival ride.

• Police responded at 10:11 p.m. to a complaint that a guest at a residence near the fairgrounds was harassing passersby. No one with the description provided was located at the residence, and the people there denied any misbehavior.

• An LED light and CB radio antenna were reported stolen off a vehicle at 11:59 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The items were later recovered.

On Sunday, July 21:

• Police responded at 12:33 a.m. to a complaint of loud music and people being loud outside a residence in the area of 8th Avenue and 17th Street. The people were warned to be quieter.

• A wallet was reported lost at 5:40 p.m. in "Smokey Row" (the 1300 block of 17th Street).

• A resident in the 500 block of West 21st Street called in a complaint at 7:44 p.m. of two neighbors causing a disturbance. The teen siblings were arguing loudly and one had locked the other out of their trailer home. They were warned to stop.

• A clerk at Boco Monroe BP, 907 20th Ave., reported finding drug paraphernalia in the bathroom - a suspicious-looking substance tied off in a baggie.

• A resident in the 500 block of West 21st Street reported a civil dispute at 10:45 p.m. He had bought a car off Craigslist in Madison. On the drive home, it broke down. Police advised him this is not a criminal matter and he'll have to take his issue to the seller or to small claims court.

On Monday, July 22:

• A resident in the 1800 block of 20th Street Court was warned to mow their lawn completely after police responded to a complaint at 7:54 a.m. that the resident had mowed the front yard but not the backyard.

• A black dog was reported at large at 11:14 a.m. in the area of 13th Street and 21st Avenue. Police did not locate the dog.

• A camera was reported lost somewhere in the city at 12:39 p.m. If found, call 608-329-2400 or drop it off at the police station.

• A stray dog was captured at 1:51 p.m. by Recreation Park. The owner was tracked down. The dog had squeezed under the owner's fence and escaped.

• Staff at Walmart reported at 2:03 p.m. that a couple had attempted to shoplift a tote full of merchandise but dropped the tote and ran when apprehended.

• A men's black bike was reported stolen from the racks at Monroe High School at 2:27 p.m.

• A man in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue reported at 10:05 p.m. that he was outside playing games on his cellphone when another man biked past and knocked the phone out of his hands. Shoving ensued. Police chased the bicyclist on foot but he escaped. The case was referred to the District Attorney for a possible charge of disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, July 23:

• A 911 caller at 12:44 a.m. reported a man asking for help in the area of 9th Street and 25th Avenue. The man was found to be intoxicated and lost. An officer gave him a ride home and turned him over to family members.

• Police responded to a neighbor's complaint of people honking horns and revving engines at 1:03 a.m. in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. They were warned to quiet down.

• A woman complained at 9:39 a.m. that she was receiving threatening messages from her ex-husband's new girlfriend on Facebook. Police advised her to block the other woman and tried unsuccessfully to contact her.

• A warning notice was issued to the owner of a rental property in the 2300 block of 14th Avenue, after police responded at 11:27 a.m. to a complaint of a pool on the property that doesn't have a fence around it and otherwise isn't in compliance with city code.

• A theft of hearing aids from an employee locker at Monroe Clinic was reported at 1:01 p.m.

• A dog tied up and barking excessively outside a residence in the 800 block of 13th Avenue was reported at 1:28 p.m. Police did not locate the animal.

• Staff at The Green Door, 1601 11th St., reported a customer's check fraud at 2:50 p.m. after the check came back from the bank. Police are investigating a suspect.

• A man reported at 5:30 p.m. that he was getting harassing texts from a woman. She was warned to stop.

• A woman reported at 5:35 p.m. that she was getting harassing texts from a man. When an officer reviewed the messages, however, the officer found she was actually sending more texts to the man. Both were warned to stop.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - At 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, dispatch received a report that a person heard what sounded like a single gunshot on the northeast side of Albany. Deputies were unable to locate the source of the sound.

DARLINGTON - On Friday, July 19:

• The Mineral Point Police Department assisted with the recovery of a stolen road sign from Kendall Township. After the sign was retrieved from Mineral Point at 5:25 a.m., it was turned over to Kendall Township.

• A deputy took a report at 8 a.m. of harassment that was occurring at Blackhawk Memorial Park in Wiota Township.

• Carmen A. Robieson, 21, Lena, was cited for speeding at 12:39 p.m. on Wisconsin 81 in Seymour Township.

• A possible break-in was reported at 6:46 p.m. at a residence on Main Street in Gratiot.

• Dakota N. Bevins, 19, Monroe, was cited for driving without vehicle insurance at 7:23 p.m. on Wis. 11 in South Wayne.

• A male involved in a verbal domestic dispute in a vehicle traveling near Apple River, Ill., was later found walking on County W in Gratiot Township. He had exited the couple's vehicle. Deputies assisted the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department with locating him. He was then picked up and taken to Warren.

On Saturday, July 20:

• Christine A. Rupnow, 57, Lemoyne, Pa., was cited for speeding at 5:08 p.m. on Wis. 81 in Elk Grove Township.

• Chad J. Swanson, 28, Shullsburg, was cited for failure to have proof of vehicle insurance at 5:10 p.m. on County O in Shullsburg Township.

• Jennifer L. Sigafus, 42, South Wayne, was cited for a seatbelt violation at 5:51 p.m. on East Center Street in South Wayne.

• Nicholas W. Baert, 17, Cortland, Ill., was cited for speeding at 7:34 p.m. on Wis. 23 in Shullsburg Township.

• Taylor A. Pickett, 16, Mineral Point, was cited for violating a restriction on a graduated driver's license at 8:01 p.m. on County S in Willow Springs Township.

• Elizabeth L. Streich, 39, Brodhead, was cited for speeding at 11:23 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Shullsburg Township.

On Sunday, July 21:

• Fouad Abdullah Almosallam, 17, Cedar Falls, Iowa, was cited for speeding at 5:15 a.m. on Wis. 11 in Shullsburg Township.

• A deputy responded to a residence on Wis. 78 in Wiota at 9:22 a.m. for a civil dispute over removal of personal property from a residence.

• Marcos Ahuelican Laureano, 21, Darlington, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a valid license or vehicle insurance at 6:13 p.m. on County K in Darlington Township. He was later released after bond was posted.

• Joshua M. Simplot, 26, Evansville, was cited for speeding at 6:20 p.m. on Wis. 78 in Argyle Township.

On Monday, July 22:

• Two juveniles were cited for ATV violations at 12:56 p.m. on Pleasant Street in South Wayne.

• A deputy is investigating a theft reported at 6:50 p.m. that occurred on County G in Belmont Township.

On Tuesday, July 23:

• Ronald E. Slater, 43, Shullsburg, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property after deputies responded at 12:40 a.m. to a report of a domestic dispute on East High Street in Shullsburg. Slater had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived but was later apprehended. He posted bond and was released.

• William J. Casey IV, 60, Whitefish Bay, was cited for speeding at 1 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Wayne Township.

• Animal neglect was reported at 2:30 p.m. on Temple Avenue in Benton.

• Michelle T. Schwartz, 34, South Wayne, was cited for speeding at 4:52 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Wayne Township.

• Harassment was reported at 6:57 p.m. on County A in Shullsburg Township.

• Telephone harassment that occurred on Prospect Street in South Wayne was reported at 7:06 p.m.
