Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Friday:

• Deputies responded to a report of theft in the N3400 block of Wisconsin 69 in the Town of Monroe. Several items, including tools, were reported taken from a barn. Anyone with information should contact the Green County Sheriff's Office at www.greensheriff.com and click on the CrimeStoppers link.

• Matthew P. Baumgartner, 25, Monroe, was arrested for second offense of operating while under the influence (alcohol) and criminal operating while revoked after deputies responded at 11:24 p.m. to a vehicle in the ditch in the W7200 block of County C in the Town of Washington. Baumgartner was also cited for failure to maintain control, non-registration of auto, and operating without motor vehicle insurance. Baumgartner was released pending court.

On Saturday:

• Ryan P. Boggs, 36, Janesville, was arrested and cited for operating while under the influence (alcohol) after deputies and the Brodhead Police Department responded to the W400 block of Wis. 11, Town of Decatur, for a vehicle in the ditch at 2:29 a.m. Boggs was eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered road and entered the ditch. Boggs was released pending court.

• Deputies responded to the W3200 block of Wis. 11, Town of Sylvester, for a hit-and-run crash at 7:10 p.m. Shano A. Friedrich, 39, Brodhead, reported that she was eastbound when a westbound truck crossed the center line and sideswiped her vehicle. Friedrich was not injured. Her vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Friedrich reported that the truck that struck her vehicle was dark in color and large. On Sunday:

• Duane A. Carpenter, 58, Monticello, was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping after deputies responded to a domestic abuse case in the 400 block of E. Coates Ave. in Monticello at 9:10 a.m. Carpenter was held at the Green County Jail pending bond.

• At 10:52 a.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the W8700 block of Sawmill Road, Town of York. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Liam F. Knutson, 16, Blanchardville, was southbound on Sawmill Road when he lost control on the snow-covered, slippery roadway while negotiating a curve. Knutson entered the ditch where the vehicle collided with an embankment. Knutson was not injured; his seatbelt was used and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

• Deputies and the Argyle Fire Department responded at 5 p.m. to the N6200 block of Wildlife Road, Town of Adams, for a vehicle fire. Gary K. Vlasak, 60, of Argyle, was southbound on Wildlife Road when flames started coming from the engine compartment. Vlasak pulled over and called 911. The Argyle Fire Department responded and put out the fire. Vlasak was not injured. The truck received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

• Thomas J. Nelson was involved in a motor vehicle vs. deer accident in the W8100 block of Wis. 81, Town of Jordan.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Friday:

• Rosemary Schultz, 50, South Wayne reported striking a deer on Springbrook Road, Wiota Township at 5: 50 a.m. Schultz's 2007 Jeep received minor damage and no injuries were reported.

• At 8:04 a.m., a deputy responded to Wis. 11, Wayne Township, for an animal injured in the roadway.

• Tasha K. Burns, 40, Beloit, was cited for speeding and having no proof of insurance on Wis. 11 in Gratiot Township at 10:16 a.m.

• Caleb S. Harris, 19, Darlington was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed, no proof of insurance and tires less than 2/32-inch tread after a deputy responded to County K, Darlington Township, for a one-vehicle accident at 2:44 p.m. Harris, was westbound on County K when he approached a curve to the left and started sliding due to road conditions. His 1994 Ford rolled over, coming to a rest on its side. It received severe damage and was towed from the scene. Darlington Fire and Rural Medical Ambulance assisted on scene; no injuries were reported.

• At 3:24 p.m., deputies responded to W. Center Street, Village of South Wayne, for a business alarm.

• Deputies responded to several complaints of vehicle slide-offs due to the road conditions.



Albany Police Department

ALBANY - On Thursday, a juvenile was cited for truancy.

On Friday and Saturday, a total of 10 winter parking citations were issued.
