Monroe Police

MONROE - On Wednesday, April 3:

- Shaun R.W. McCaffree, 28, Monroe, was arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal damage to property after police responded at 12:58 a.m. to a 911 call in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. Court records indicate he was yelling at people in his apartment and violently swinging a wooden baseball bat, leaving damage on the walls and doors. He also allegedly yelled at an officer from his second-floor apartment window while swinging the bat. He was jailed. His signature bond was set at $2,000 later the same day in Green County Circuit Court, with the conditions that he not drink, possess dangerous weapons or have contact with a woman who was present in the apartment. He has a pre-trial conference May 21.

- Jason L. Strothman, 37, Monroe, was arrested in the 400 block of West 21st Street at 6:01 p.m. on two outstanding warrants issued by the Green County Sheriff's Department for failing to pay child support. He was jailed.

- Cody A. Henning, 25, Monroe, and Cody L. Reichling, 26, Gratiot, were cited for retail theft after police responded at 10:47 p.m. to Walmart, 300 6th Ave. W.

- A 16-year-old Monroe girl was cited for truancy at 8:16 a.m. at Monroe High School.

- Police responded to a call for an ambulance at 8:35 a.m. in the 800 block of 13th Avenue. A 70-year-old woman had been walking outside a residence and fell. She was incapacitated by alcohol and taken into protective custody at Monroe Clinic.

- A person running in the 1700 block of 16th Street reported an unleashed dog at 10:37 a.m. The dog was able to come out of its yard and onto the sidewalk. The dog owner told police the animal wasn't leashed because the leash was frozen to the ground. Police warned the owner to maintain and use the leash.

- The parent of a student at Monroe High School reported at 10:38 a.m. that a $185 iPod had been stolen out of a locker at the school.

- A resident in the 1700 block of 17th Street complained at 10:54 a.m. that a dog routinely escapes from the neighbor's yard and comes into her yard. This time the animal had done its business on her porch. Police are following up with the dog owner to prevent the situation from continuing.

- An officer investigated a school-reported truancy at a residence in the 1700 block of 15th Street at 1:31 p.m.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Wednesday, April 3:

- Three people were cited after deputies made contact with a vehicle at 5:40 p.m. on Wisconsin 11 in Shullsburg. Jesse T. Clemen, 21, New Vienna, Iowa, was cited for open intoxicants and allowing seatbelt violations. Stephanie E. Jerry, 19, Scales Mound, Ill., was cited for a seatbelt violation, underage drinking and open intoxicants. Thomas J. McDermott, 22, Scales Mound, was cited for open intoxicants.

- A deputy checked on the welfare of a person found sleeping in a vehicle at 7:10 a.m. on Wis. 11 in Benton Township.

- A deputy responded at 11:15 a.m. to a residence on South Lafayette Street in Argyle for a complaint of a young child outside without adult supervision.

- A hit-and-run accident reported at 11:34 a.m. on Rowesville Road in Elk Grove Township remains under investigation. A vehicle hit an informational road sign and then left the scene.

- Occupants of a residence on Jenkins Lane in Belmont Township reported at 7:45 p.m. that their house had been hit by a stray bullet sometime during the previous day.

- A deputy took a report at 11:40 p.m. of a civil dispute between several relatives over personal property at a residence on North Van Buren Street in Benton.
