Peter A. Graber, age 86, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his son on Sunday, February 21, 2016. He was born on May 27, 1929 in Browntown, WI, son of Peter and Marie (Nageli) Graber. After graduating from Monticello High School, Peter made Swiss cheese, at the Town Hall Cheese Factory and then the Gunderson Cheese factory.
From 1954-1956, Peter was a Corporal in the 5th Army in Germany as a cook. After returning from the Army he met a remarkable woman at a dance at Turner Hall in Madison. Peter and Shirley (Rick) were married on November 23, 1957 in Wonewoc, WI.
Peter was a partner at the Washington Mill, sold appliances and furniture, and worked for the DNR and State Parks and Trails.
Peter is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Monticello, son, Peter (Lori) Graber of Monticello, and daughter, Karen (Steve) Meier of Waunakee; his grandchildren: Ashley (Jeff) Dodson, Jacob Graber, Kyle Meier and Kayla Meier; great-granddaughter, Ainslie Dodson; sister, Lillian (Ted) Falk of Monroe; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister-in-laws, Otto and Darlyne Graber, Permin and Verena Graber; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie (Erick) Siegenthaler.
Peter loved playing cards and enjoyed a good glass of wine. Cheers to you my dear husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa!

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Washington Reformation Church, N6026 Church Road, Monticello, WI with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
