Orson Emerson Wells, age 87 of rural Monroe died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on September 16, 1924, in Monroe, the son of Orson and Lillie (Lehman) Wells. Emerson and Louise Korn were married on April 27, 1946. He farmed in the Monroe area for over 70 years. Emerson also worked as a security guard for the Browntown Foundry and worked 18 years for Fish Building Supply. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Green County Conservation League, Antique Wheelers Club and Green County Harmony Chorus for 49 years. Emerson enjoyed hunting, woodworking and building projects, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, spoiling his grand and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Wells of Monroe; daughter, Marcia (David) Wald of Monroe; grandchildren, Barry (Tanya Nall) Wald, Joel (Connie) Wald; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (Kubly) Jacobs and Ruth Signer. He is predeceased by his parents; son, Jeffrey Wells; granddaughter in infancy; and brother, Howard Wells.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at noon at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. William T. Mike Heath officiating. Burial will be in the Kelly Cemetery, Cadiz Township, Green County. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at noon at the Church. A memorial fund is being established in Emerson's memory. The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.
