Not guilty pleas entered in New Glarus business burglaries

MONROE - The court entered not guilty pleas for two Belleville teens who stood mute Dec. 17 in Green County Circuit Court to charges of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

Erik J. Ellenberger, 18, and Trey P. Hamilton, 17, are charged with three counts of burglary, each a class F felony, three counts of theft and three counts of criminal damage to property, all class A misdemeanors. They face more than 50 years in prison and up to $135,000 in fines, if convicted.

A district attorney conference was scheduled for Feb. 3.

Court records allege they committed burglaries, thefts and criminal damage to Hoesly's Meats, Stampfli Automotive and Wrecker Service and New Glarus Power Service April 13 in New Glarus.

According to police reports, windows were broken to gain access to the buildings. Money and equipment were taken.

They remain free on $5,000 signature bonds.
