Nathan P. Burkhalter, age 59 of Monroe, died Friday, September 10, 2010 at Meriter Hospital, Madison. He had been ill for the past nine months. Nathan was born February 23, 1951 in Monroe, the son of Robert J. and Elda M. (Siedschlag) Burkhalter. He graduated from Monroe High School and Wisconsin School of Electronics. Nathan was employed for the past 18 years by the Minhas Craft Brewery. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Brennan of Monroe; his brother, Ned (Marlynn) Burkhalter of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and a special cousin, George Mickelson, who was like a brother to Nate. He was preceded in death by his parents. Over the years Nate enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and making traditional German family recipes. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Wednesday, September 15, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by a private family burial in Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Margo Peterson officiating.
