Nathan LeRoy Jones, age 78 of Friendship, WI formerly of Monroe, died at his home on Saturday, June 25, 2016 with his wife Carole by his side. Nate was born on March 28, 1938 in New Glarus, the son of Charles and Irma (Zeller) Jones. His family farmed in the New Glarus and Monroe area for many years. He graduated from New Glarus High School in 1956 and in the years that followed had four wonderful children with his first wife. Nate served in the National Guard. He started driving semi-trucks in 1960 and thus began a lifelong career with numerous trucking companies. He loved the open road and logged 7.2 million miles that took him to 48 states. He loved camping and hiking adventures with family and friends. Nate retired to Friendship with his wife, Carole, in November, 2015. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for over a year.

Nathan is survived by his wife, Carole; children, Deb Guisleman, Duane (Kathy) Jones, Dan (Lynn) Jones, Diane (Pete) Barrett; grandchildren, DeJay (Jaime), Dustin (Kyrston), Steve (Holly), Derek (Angela), Jesse, Austin, Abbey, Natalie, and Tommy; great grandchildren, Alessandra, Brennan, Grayson, Korbin, and Kade; step-children, Stephen (Mary) Polley, and Melissa (Matt) Castilla; step-grandchildren, Chad, Michael, Ethan, Luke, Courtney, Matthew, Lauren, and Mackenzie; the mother of his children, Janet Blanc; a sister, Beverly Hezlep; and nieces, Diana, Dawn, and Donna. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Charlene.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st Ave., Monroe, with Reverend Todd Hackman of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in Nate's name. Online condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
