Nancy J. Grossen age 62 of Monroe, died at her home with family by her side on Thursday, April 24, 2014 following a battle with cancer. Nancy was born July 10, 1951 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Arnold and Betty Jean (Ostrom) Nystrom. She attended Rockford public schools. Nancy married Daniel Grossen on October 5, 1985 at the Grossen home in rural Monroe. She was an animal lover who enjoyed taking care of her dogs and breeding Maine Coon housecats. Nancy's great joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always excited to go shopping or take a vacation. She helped maintain the Lucky Seven Laundromat for several years and was a member of East Clarno Zion United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Grossen of Monroe; two sons, Mark Conkling and Brian Conkling (special friend, Jenna), both of Monroe; a daughter, Linzy (Chris) Brunetto of Madison; three grandchildren, Leah, Koal, and Arienne; a niece, Carla Duvall; and a special friend, Cindy Yeung. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl and Ray Nystrom; and a sister in infancy.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Monroe Moose Lodge. For those who prefer, memorials may be sent in Nancy's name to N496 Freeport Road, Monroe. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
