MONROE - A Monroe man remains free on a $15,000 signature bond after making his initial appearance Monday for sexual assault, possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.

Nathan K. Rufener, 18, is charged with second-degree sexual assault, a class C felony; child enticement, a class D felony; two counts of third-degree sexual assault, both class G felonies; resisting an officer, exposing himself, and three counts of sexual intercourse with a child, all class A misdemeanors. He faces more than 88 years in prison and up to $111,000 in fines, if convicted.

Court records indicate a 17-year-old female was at Rufener's house Dec. 16 and was assaulted. Rufener later struggled with police while they took him into custody.

His preliminary hearing is Jan. 30.
