EVANSVILLE - Milton L. Purintun, age 70 of Evansville, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at home after a courageous 8 month fight with cancer. He was born on a farm in Mount Pleasant township in Green County on August 9, 1938, the son of David and Florence (Divan) Purintun. Milton graduated from Albany High School in 1956. Milton married Mary Mayer on October 14, 1962 in Browntown, Wisconsin.
He was employed by General Motors of Janesville and retired with 31 years of service. During his time with General Motors he also farmed part time. After retirement, he continued to farm. Milton served with the Army National Guards from 1961 to 1966, serving one year on active duty during the Berlin Crisis, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a leader for Magnolia 4-H Club and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ where he was head usher for over 30 years. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful and most giving person and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of 45 years; his daughter, Connie (Gary) Worm and son, Robert, all of Evansville; his granddaughters, Melissa and Chelsey Larson and grandson, Trenton Purintun, a sister, Donna (Kenneth) Kundert, brothers, Ronald (Janet Zee) Purintun, Richard Purintun, Garnett Purintun, all of Monroe; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Duane.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverend Dr. Luke Bocher officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by V.F.W. Post 6905. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at the Ward Funeral Home, Evansville, Wisconsin. Memorials will be donated to Mercy Care Hospice, Evansville Care Closet and the Salvation Army.
