MONROE - Mary Delores Murphy, age 94 of Monroe, WI, died on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born on April 14, 1920 near Calamine, WI to Joseph and Delilah (Tubbs) McKillip. She attended Sheldon Rural School in Willow Springs Township. On January 28, 1941, she married James Joseph Murphy at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Calamine. James preceded her in death on January 28, 1986, the anniversary of their 45th year of marriage. Mary lived all of her life in Northwestern Illinois and Southwestern Wisconsin. She enjoyed working all of her life alongside her husband while raising their children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mary also worked at Oaktron Industries in Monroe for 26 years. After her husband's death in 1986, she moved to Churchill Woods where she spent many happy years. Survivors include her children: Jim (Nancy) Murphy of Freeport, IL, Sharon (Darryle) Burmeister of Apple Canyon Lake, IL, Cindy Brinker of Warren, Nita (Gary) Gilbertson of Gratiot, Becky (Greg) Ochsner of New Glarus, Mary (Keith) Murphy-Downs of Monroe; 9 grandchildren: Susan, Jim, Victor, Sara, Carey, Michael, Leif, Jonathan, Jennifer; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Donald McKillip, Rachel (Gib) Suthers, and Sara (Dave) Lange-Flanagan; a sister-in-law, Maxine McKillip; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, John David Brinker; a son-in-law, Joseph Brinker; her brother, Joseph McKillip; her sister, Anna Liles; her sister-in-law, Ruby McKillip; and her brother-in-law, Delbert Lange.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, with Fr. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, where a Rosary will be prayed at 2:45 pm.
