Martin "Marty" Charles Bredeson

Martin "Marty" Charles Bredeson, age 73, of Argyle, WI, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at New Glarus Home in New Glarus, WI after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born February 16, 1939 in Darlington, WI, the son of Bjarne and Millie (Vinger) Bredeson. He grew up in rural Blanchardville and Argyle and attended Ingwell-Watrud and Prairie View schools. Martin graduated from Argyle High School in 1957. Martin was united in marriage to Virginia M. Lien on June 28, 1959 at Adams Lutheran Church. They farmed for a short time and then he worked as a facilities manager at Argyle Elementary School, where he also drove school bus for many years. Martin later managed and worked at Argyle Lumber Company, retiring in 2001. He then did both interior and exterior house painting.

Martin is survived by his wife: Virginia at home; three children: Brenda (Thomas) Rossing of Argyle, Brian Bredeson of Whitewater, WI and Cindy, and Rhonda (Randall) Sakuma of Waukesha, WI; five grandchildren: Ryan (Megan) Rossing, Gina (Michael) Oftedahl, Elise Rossing, and Ki and Erik Sakuma; two great-grandsons: Isaac Rossing and Wesley Oftedahl; two brothers: Bernard (Judy) Bredeson of Rockford, IL and Robert (Mary Ann) Bredeson of Beloit, WI; three sisters: Marie C. Mason of Monroe, WI, Berneice (James) Benz of Rockford, and Mavis Robertson of Monroe; and two sisters-in-law: Betty Bredeson of Rocky Face, GA, and Hope Bredeson of Cary, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son: Jason in 1972; one grandson: Isaac Rossing in infancy; three brothers: Jerome in infancy, Vernus and Gerald Bredeson; and one sister: Irene Bredeson.

Martin was a member of Adams Lutheran Church, a past church council member, and past choir member. He enjoyed volunteering as an usher at church and served on several of its committees. Martin loved playing sports and coached fifth and sixth grade basketball. As an adult, he played in both fastpitch and slowpitch leagues in Argyle for a number of years. He loved to sing and yodel and also enjoyed conversation and coffee with friends at Irma's Kitchen. He also cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Adams Lutheran Church, N7148 County Road A in rural Argyle with Rev. Rick Fry officiating. Burial will be in Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 801 East Milwaukee Street in Argyle.
