Margaret E. Gempeler, age 92, of Monroe, formerly of Monticello, passed gently into the arms of Jesus, while surrounded by her loving family, Saturday December 20, 2014 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe. She was born on December 11, 1922 in Juda, the daughter of Walter and Emma Ida (Klatt) Stricker. She attended Clarno Township School and Monroe High School. Margaret married Leon C. Gempeler on February 25, 1945 in Monroe, and enjoyed 67 wonderful years together. She was employed at Swiss Maid in New Glarus, and later worked for Mrs. Lackovich's Christmas House, she also helped her husband on the farm her entire life. She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, taught Sunday school at Zwingli Church, Eagles Club of New Glarus, the Women's Guild, the Add A Million Club of Monroe; and she enjoyed Bowling, Gardening, Camping and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by five children: Roger Gempeler of Monticello, RoxAnn Witkowski of Hilton Head Island, SC, Ron (Betsy Treuthardt) Gempeler of Brodhead, Rick (Deb) Gempeler of Beaver Dam, and Reyne (Stacey) Phillips of Browntown, a sister, Helen Schmidt of Monroe; brother-in-law, Harold Neuenschwander of Monroe; 3 granddaughters: Mary Foley, Adrian Phillips and Ashley Phillips; 7 great-grandchildren: Braeden and Memphis Brewster, Itzela and Yadira Phillips, and Abbey, Johnny and Lilly Tetzlaff. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Leon who died on Aug. 25, 2012; step-father, Herman Monte, 2 brothers: Fred Stricker and Willard Monte, 3 sisters: Nellie Neuenschwander, Marie Stuessy and Ida Schiess, and Patricia Berra.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, with Rev. Jeannie Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Monticello. A visitation will be held Friday evening Dec. 26th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, Monroe.
