Margaret A. Olson, age 96, of Monroe, WI, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington, WI. She was born January 1, 1916 in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Roland and Elva (Wilcox) Hughes. Margaret was united in marriage to Arthur Eicher on August 6, 1934 in Ridgeway, WI. She lived and farmed in the Darlington area with her husband until 1941 when she began working for Burgess Battery in Mineral Point, WI, until 1951. In 1949, she moved near Wiota where she farmed with her husband until moving to Monroe in 1965. Margaret was united in marriage to Clarence Olson on January 22, 1955 in Argyle, WI. She also worked at Dorman Cheese Company in Monroe from 1959 until retiring in 1981.

Margaret is survived by one son: Donald D. (Barbara) Eicher of rural Darlington; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Verna Jean Goold of Dodgeville, WI; and some very special friends in Monroe who helped with her many needs. She was preceded in death by her first husband: Arthur on May 22, 1954; her second husband: Clarence in 1994; one daughter: Carole I. Caflisch in 2008; one son: Myron Dale Eicher; one grandson: Steven Eicher in infancy; one granddaughter: Sue Eicher Shager; two sisters: Darlene Hughes and Ruth Landen; and two brothers: William and Ronald Hughes.

Margaret was a member of Wiota Lutheran Church and its Women of ELCA. She was also a member of Monroe Moose Lodge Chapter #599 and Argyle American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, and making scalloped corn. Margaret loved to make quilts; she made one for each of her grandchildren. She was always interested in what her family was doing; she enjoyed attending family reunions.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Road 78 in rural South Wayne, WI, with Vicar Rich McLeer of Hope Lutheran Church in Mineral Point officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery in Wiota Township, WI. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
