ALBANY - A man who failed to appear in court in 2009 for a fourth-offense charge of driving while intoxicated was arrested last week on the same charge.

John G. Waelchli, Jr., 45, was jailed Thursday, April 4, following a traffic stop at North Mechanic Street and Cincinnati Street in Albany, according to records in Green County Circuit Court.

He is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol level and driving with a revoked license. He also faces charges of misdemeanor bail jumping.

A Dane County judge ordered a bench warrant for Waelchli in April 2009 after he failed to make a mandatory appearance in court for another fourth-offense DWI charge.

Since the 2009 charge is still pending, he's currently facing two fourth-offense DWI charges.

He posted a $500 cash bond Monday, April 8, with the conditions that he not drink, not enter taverns or liquor stores and not leave Green or Dane County without the court's permission.

He was sentenced in July 2007 to 30 days in jail for his third DWI conviction, stemming from an arrest the previous December in Green County.
