TOWN OF CADIZ — A Monroe man with a conviction history of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested again Saturday, August 7 after a moped crash southeast of Browntown, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Carmen F. Ott, 68, faces a felony seventh-offense charge of operating while under the influence. In Wisconsin, a seventh-offense OWI conviction requires a minimum sentence of three years. The maximum sentence on the Class F felony is 12 and a half years. Ott also has a pending seventh-offense OWI charge from 2019, but the case is still open. In fact, Ott’s most recent pretrial conference was held Aug. 4, three days before his most recent arrest. The trial for his 2019 arrest is slated for Nov. 18.

An investigation found Ott was operating a moped, traveling southbound on Allen Rd when he lost control of the moped, entering the ditch and crashing. Deputies responded to the Town of Cadiz N2000 block at 12:25 p.m.

Ott was not wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic emergency room for injuries sustained during the crash. The moped sustained damage and was towed from the scene.

Ott was placed under arrest for felony charges of Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) 7th Offense and Bail Jumping. He was incarcerated in the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
