Lorraine Ruth Waage, 86, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Monroe Manor. She was born on March 21, 1931 the only child of Irvin and Wilma (Brecklin) Hansen in Woodford. Lorraine was a graduate of Argyle High School. She was united in marriage to Sylvan Leroy Waage on August 19, 1950 at the East Wiota Lutheran Church.

Lorraine grew up on a family farm where she learned to have a strong work ethic from an early age, helping with farm chores. She was employed at Swiss Colony for over 35 years. She was also an avid volunteer; she graciously gave her time to the St. Clare Hospital, welcoming and helping transport patients, as a receptionist for Grace Lutheran Church, and the Historical Cheese Society. Lorraine and Sylvan were longtime members of the Sons of Norway. In her free time she enjoyed playing cards and attended many Euchrama events at the hospital, as well as bowling, and gardening nearly an acre land.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, Sylvan of Monroe, children, David Waage of New Glarus, Audrey (John) Catalano of Austin, TX, Linda Johnson of Charlotte, NC, and Richard (Emily) Waage of Vero Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Skeen, Michael (Lauren) Guzman, Eric, Dana, and Allison Catalano, and Jonathan, Grace, Abby, Rachel, and Emma Waage; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A Private Family Burial will be held. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church.
