Lorraine Elmer age 95 of Monroe, formerly of Monticello, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Lorraine was born September 16, 1918 on the Freitag home farm in Exeter Township, the daughter of Jacob H. and Emma (Jordi) Freitag. She graduated from Monticello High School and married Arnold Elmer on June 10, 1937 in Monticello. Lorraine worked at the Voegeli and Shuler Law Firm for many years and later served as the Village Clerk of Monticello before retiring. She was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ.

Lorraine is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, on June 8, 2000; five brothers, Otto, Stanley, John, Hobart, and Terrence Freitag; seven sisters, Edrie Duerst, Phyllis Pauli, Shirley Larson, Patricia Oppliger, Lucile Elmer, Elizabeth Ace, and Frances Kubly; and an infant brother and sister.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., at Highland Cemetery, Monticello. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Monticello Public Library in Lorraine's name. The Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello, is assisting the family.
