Loran Clair Dietmeier

Loran Clair Dietmeier, age 83 of Brodhead, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at Collinwood Care in Brodhead. Loran was born April 24, 1930 near Orangeville, the son of Ray and Velma (Shrader) Dietmeier. He grew up on the family farm West of Orangeville with brothers, Romaine and Marlen, now deceased. He attended Franklin rural school and Orangeville High School. His love of horses began with Saturday matinees, and was furthered by Boots and Saddle Club and the Mounted Patrol. Loran served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, primarily in France. He married Ulonda Signer in 1952, farmed in the area until 1991, enjoyed working with horses in Montana and Missouri until returning to Wisconsin. Loran shared his loved of housedogs by nurturing Celeste's schipperke raising ventures. With his son, Clair, he shared the pleasure of owning horses, raising foals, and trail riding.

He is survived by his daughter, Celeste (Richard) Laabs of Portage, his son, Clair Dietmeier of Monroe; grandson, Erich (Kim) Laabs of Freedom; and great grandchildren, Drake, Ruby, and James Laabs.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Inurnment with military rites will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
