Lois E. Meighan age 96 of Monroe, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. Lois was born June 22, 1916 near Winslow, IL, the daughter of Clarence E. and Phebe M. (Reck) Wales. She was the last survivor of the Winslow High School class of 1935. Lois married Clarence E. Meighan on June 4, 1938 in Dubuque, Iowa. They farmed in the state line area before moving into Monroe in 1966. Lois worked for Advance Transformer for 10 years. She loved to travel having visited Italy, the Bahamas, and all 50 states. She enjoyed bingo, volunteering at Pleasant View and Churchill Woods Apartments, and was a huge packer fan who dressed in Green and Gold on game days.

She is survived by six children, Loreane (Kim) Hendrickson of Argyle, Joan (Gerald) Miller of Browntown, Virgil (Pat) Meighan of Scioto Mills, IL, Daryl (Judy) Meighan of Monroe, Gary (Betty) Meighan of Darlington, and Dennis (Regina) Meighan of Monroe; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy (Irvin) Seuring of Baileyville, IL, and Letha Leverton of Lena, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne Meighan; a grandson, Brian Meighan; and two brothers, Ralph and Robert Wales.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. A luncheon will be held at Grace Lutheran Church followed by private family burial in Rock Lily Cemetery, Winslow. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
