Monticello Police

On Nov. 7

● At approximately 1:38 p.m., Officers assisted a citizen with vehicle registration questions in the 200 block of N. Main Street.  

● At approximately 6:34 p.m., Officers received a harassment complaint in the 100 block of N. Main Street.  A citizen reported that they keep getting contacted and wanted it to stop.  Offices made contact with the person that was making the phone calls.  They were advised to cease all contact.  

On Nov. 8

● At approximately 11:24 a.m., Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Street for a welfare check on a citizen.  Contact was made with the citizen and everything was found to be okay.  No further action was needed. 

● At approximately 4:56 p.m., Officers took custody of a portable grill that was found in the octagon shelter at Lake Montesian.  The property was posted on social media.  The grill was place into found property.  

On Nov. 9

● At approximately 10:35 a.m., Officers responded within the village for an emergency medical call.  Green EMS and Monticello Fire First Response also responded.

On Nov. 10

● At approximately 1:13 p.m., Officers were contacted by a resident in the 200 block of N. Kennedy Street in reference to a found cell phone.  The cell phone was water damaged but still had a micro-SD card in it.  The card will be reviewed to try to identify the phone’s owner.

On Nov 11:

● At approximately 2:34 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of STH 69 and W. Coates Avenue Rd for an observed traffic violation.  As a result of the traffic stop, Marvin G. Soto Ortez, 25, of Monticello was cited for failure to provide proof of vehicle Insurance.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

On Nov 12:

● At approximately 4:52 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic control for Monticello Fire Department responding to a call outside of the Village. 

● At approximately 6:02 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic control for Monticello First Response responding to a call outside of the Village. 

On Nov 14:

● At approximately 8:00 p.m., Officers were contacted in reference to a minor motor vehicle crash that occurred in a parking lot.  This was in the 300 block of S. Main Street.  No injuries were reported.  A motor vehicle crash report was completed. 

On Nov 15:

● At approximately 9:23 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Main Street in regards to illegal dumping of trash. A vehicle has been identified with out of state plates and the investigation is ongoing.

On Nov. 16:

● At approximately 4:04 p.m., Officers assisted a resident with a dog at large on STH 69 and Lake Avenue. The dog was taken into custody by the owner.

On Nov. 17:

● At approximately 5:19 p.m., Officers responded within the village for an emergency medical call. Green County EMS and Monticello Fire First Response also responded. 

● At approximately 6:10 p.m., Officers pulled a dead deer carcass off the roadway on E. Coates Avenue at N. Pratt Rd. 

On Nov. 18:

● At approximately 12:11 p.m., Green County Sheriff’s Office requested mutual aid in regards with a traffic stop involving drugs on STH 69 and CTH C.


Monroe Police

On Nov 26:

● At approximately 11:28 p.m. Officers responded to the 500 block of W. 21st Street for a complaint. While investigating the complaint Officers were approached by subject who reported another incident. Investigation into the second incident resulted in Shawn W. Boss, 23, Monroe,  being arrested for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Shawn was taken to the Green County Jail where he was also held on a Probation Hold through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

On Dec. 02:

● 4:09 p.m., officers arrested Justin W. Young (35), Juda, in the 900 block of 20th Avenue, on a warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for a previous parole violation. Young was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.

● 11:49 p.m., officers arrested Trevor R. Frie (31), Juda, in the 1500 block of l8th Street, on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting officers. Frie was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On Dec. 3:

● 1:32 a.m., officers arrested Peter V. Cramer (36), Blue Mounds, at a business in the 1900 block of loth Avenue, for misdemeanor bail jumping for violating bail conditions on a prior case. Cramer was confined in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.

On Dec 6:

● At approximately 10:35 p.m.  Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 17th Street for a single vehicle traffic crash. Investigation revealed the driver Melvin 0. Garcia Espinoza  36, Monroe was traveling eastbound on West 17th Street when he crossed left of center exiting the roadway to the North where it struck a utility pole. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with front airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Meivin and his passenger reported sustaining no injuries and wearing their seatbelts. Melvin was subsequently arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence 1st Offense and cited for Operating without a Valid Driver’s License, Operating without Motor Vehicle Insurance and Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control. Melvin was taken to the Green County Jail where he was later released pending a mandatory court date.

On Dec.8:

● At approximately 1:26 a.m. Officers were conducting a crash investigation near the intersection of llth Avenue and 19th Street. Officers observed a vehicle operating northbound on llth Avenue proceed over a curb and exit the roadway. Contact was made with the driver, Juan D. Chipahua Panzoa, 25, Monroe. Juan advised that the reason for the traffic violation was due to excessively frosted windows. Juan was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant and taken to the Green County Jail/ where he was held pending an initial court appearance. Juan was also cited for Operating without a Valid License/ Cloud-iness of Windshield/ and Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control.

On Dec 9:

● At 5:57 pm, Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of i4th Ave for a report of subject banging on a residence door. An investigation into that incident led to the arrest of Brett C Blankenhorn (31) of Monroe for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Brett was also cited for Operating without a Valid Driver s License (3rd Offense) and Expired Registration. Brett was processed at the Monroe Police Department and later posted a cash bond. Brett was released with a mandatory court appearance.


Brodhead Police

On Nov 25:

● 7:07pm, Police responded to the 700 block of 17th St for the report of an Animal Problem; dog barking for an extended period of time. Contact with owner was made and a verbal warning was issued.

On Nov 26:

● 2:39a.m., Police responded to the 1000 block of 1st Center Ave for the report of Disorderly Conduct; subject following them around. Prior to officer arrival on scene, the subject left the area. The individuals did not want to press charges. 

● 10:58a.m., a 21 year old Beloit man was arrested in the 2100 block of 1st Center Ave on a valid WI DOC warrant. B22-07112

● 10:37p.m., police responded to the 600 block of 6th St for the report of an Animal Problem; dog that ran away. The dog was located by the owner. 

On Nov 27:

● 5:49p.m., Police responded to the 1100 block of 1st Center Ave for the report of a theft. This matter remains under investigation.

On Nov 28:

● 12:22p.m., a juvenile was cited in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave. for Possession of Tobacco Products by Underage Person.

On Nov 29:

● 8:13a.m., a 17 year old was cited in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave. for Possession of Marijuana.

On Nov 30:

● 2:20p.m., a 34 year old Evansville woman was cited in the 800 block of E 9th Ave. for Display Unauthorized Registration Plate.

On Dec. 1:

● 3:16p.m., an 18 year old Brodhead man was cited for Smoking in Certain Enclosed Spaces following a tobaccocomplaint in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave.

On Dec. 3:

● 12:13a.m., while on patrol, Police located Suspicious Activity in the 1100 block of 1st Center Ave; vehicles parked in lot after hours. Officers investigated and found no additional evidence of suspicious activity.

● 6:54p.m., while on patrol, Police located Suspicious Activity in the 100 block of E 4th Ave; vehicle in lot after hours. Officers investigated and found no additional evidence of suspicious activity.

On Dec 04:

● 1:41a.m., Police responded to the 1100 block of 1st Center Ave for the report of a Weapon Offense. This matter remains under investigation.

● 3:02p.m., a 55 year old Beloit man was cited in the 800 block of 10th St for Display of Unauthorized Plate and No Insurance on a Motor Vehicle.

On Dec. 5:

● 11:42a.m., a 62 year old Brodhead man was cited in the 300 block of 4th St for No Insurance on a Motor Vehicle.

On Dec 7:

● 3:37p.m., Police responded to the 300 block of 11th St. for the report of an Animal  Problem; a problem between dogs at the dog park. The owners were contacted and the matter was resolved.

● 8:14p.m. Police responded to the 100 block of Juniper Ave. for the report of a Restraining Order Violation. This matter remains under investigation

On Dec. 8

● 11:30a.m., a juvenile was cited in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave. for a Tobacco Violation.

On Dec 9:

● 10:27a.m., Police responded to the 2300 block of E 3rd Ave. for the report of a Vehicle in the Ditch; a semi slid off roadway due to snowfall while making a turn.
