Lafayette County Sheriff
On January 2:
● 9:10 a.m. A deputy responded to Main ST, City of Darlington to assist Darlington Police with a two vehicle accident.
● 8:12 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 23, Darlington Township for a vehicle in the ditch. As a result, Ivan A Cruz, 41, Darlington was cited for Operating without License. Cruz’s 2008 Chevrolet received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
On January 3:
● 9:45 a.m. A deputy responded to Short Cut RD, Willow Springs Township for a vehicle in the ditch.
On January 4:
● 8:07 a.m. A deputy responded to N Warren ST in the Village of South Wayne for a minor two vehicle accident. Barbara A Saunders, 82, Warren, IL was traveling eastbound on STH 11 in a 2005 Cadillac when she turned south onto N Warren ST, failing to see Rosann H Markese, 86, South Wayne traveling north on N Warren ST in her 2012 Ford. Saunders turned in front of Markese, causing an accident. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene with moderate damage.
● 9:30 p.m. Katherine M Heimann, 20, Dubuque was cited for Speeding and Underage person Transporting Intoxicants on CTH W, White Oak Springs Township.
Green County Sheriff
On January 5:
● At 2:29 a.m., Deputies responded to the N2000 block of CTH OK, in the Town of Spring Grove, for a reported single vehicle crash with injury. The investigation found that Jeremy M.M. Crabtree, 44, of Pearl City, was traveling southbound when he fell asleep, entered the ditch, and then struck a power pole. Crabtree advised he was wearing his seatbelt and sustained suspected minor injury. Crabtree’s vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.
On January 6:
● At approximately 7:54 a.m., Deputies responded to the N5500 blk of STH 69, Town of Washington, for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Deputies met with the operator and sole occupant, Charles E. Jaeger, 25 of Monroe, who advised he was traveling south on STH 69 when he lost control negotiating a left curve in the roadway and entered the ditch. Charles was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt and there was no airbag deployment. There was minor rear bumper damage and an unknown mechanical failure of the vehicle not allowing it to start. The vehicle was left in the ditch to be removed at a later time.
● At approximately 11:36 p.m., Carlos Aguirre Avendano, 25, of Monroe, was stopped for speeding in the N5300 block of STH 69, in the Town of Washington. The investigation resulted in Carlos being placed under arrest for Operating While under the Influence — 1st Offense. Carlos was additionally cited for speeding and Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Carlos was later released to a responsible party pending a mandatory court date.
On January 7:
● At approximately 2:03 a.m., Deputies responded to N2471 Vanmatre Ln., in the Town of Clarno, for a reported assault. The investigation resulted in Carson L. Sangermano, 18, of Brodhead, being placed under arrest for Substantial Battery and Disorderly Conduct. Sangermano was later incarcerated at the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance. MNPD and BHPD assisted Deputies throughout the investigation.
