Monroe Police

On Aug 18:

● At 8:00p.m. officers were called to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 2200 block of 8th Avenue. An investigation led to the arrest of Kylie T. Swaziek, 18, Monroe, on a charge of disorderly conduct under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence laws. Swaziek was released after posting cash bail, pending a court appearance. 

On Aug 21:

At approximately, 12:56a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of 16th Avenue. Investigation into the stop resulted in Luis A. Mora Ortiz, 18, Monroe, being arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Violating the Absolute Sobriety Law. Luis was also cited for Speeding, and Operating without a Valid License. Luis was released pending court. 

Monticello Police

On July 30:

● At approximately 3:17 p.m., Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Monroe Street for an observed traffic violation.  As a result of the traffic stop, Derek John Robert Blum of Monroe was cited for speeding.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 3:30 p.m., Officers responded within the Village for an emergency medical call.  Green County EMS and Monticello Fire First Response also responded. 

● At approximately 8:35 p.m., Officers responded within the Village for an emergency medical call.  Green County EMS and Monticello Fire First Response also responded. 

On August 1:

● At approximately 8:39 a.m., Officers received a traffic/driving complaint at the intersection of Main Street and Lake Avenue.  It was reported that a vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and did not stop for a stop sign.  The incident remains under investigation. 

● At approximately 10:06 a.m., Officers received a littering complaint on numerous streets in the village.  The complainant reported that the horses being rode by the Amish are defecating on the village streets creating a nuisance. The investigation continues.

On August 2:

● At approximately 7:06 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on State Hwy 69 at W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Curtis J. Gerber of Browntown was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

On August 3:

● At approximately 4:54 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on State Hwy 69 at W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Benjamin M. Chicker of Monticello was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 5:08 p.m., Officers responded within the Village for an emergency medical call.  Green County EMS and Monticello Fire First Response also responded. 

At approximately 8:20 p.m., Officers received a parking complaint in the 300 block of S. Garfield Street.  It was reported that a vehicle was parked facing the wrong direction. The vehicle was issued a citation.  

● At approximately 8:50 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on N. Monroe Street and Oak Ridge Ave.  As a result of the traffic stop, Zachary S. Hayes of Monticello was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

On August 4:

● At approximately 5:30 p.m. Officers issued a citation for a Village code violation in the 500 block of S. Lincoln Street. As a result, Matthew W. Foster was cited for regulation on length of grass over 8”. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 6:09 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on STH 69 and W. Coates Ave.  As a result of the traffic stop, Dylan D. Gratz of Belleville was cited for excessive window tinting.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 6:39 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on STH 69 and W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Blake A Shumaker of Monticello was cited for failure to wear seatbelt.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 8:27 p.m., Green County Sheriff’s Office received numerous 911 calls in regards to a vehicle swerving all over the road. Officers conducted a traffic stop on STH 69 and W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Kenia Mejia Martinez of Monroe was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence as a first offense and release to a responsible party.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

On Aug 5:

● At approximately 6:46 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation in the area of State Hwy 69 and W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Scott J. Gregurich of Monticello was cited for a seatbelt violation.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 7:22 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation in the area of E. Coates Avenue and Aeberhard Drive.  As a result of the traffic stop, John M. Miller of Monticello was cited for a driver seatbelt violation.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

Brodhead Police

On July 20:

● 7:37 p.m., Police responded to the 1000 block of 21st St for the report of Suspicious Activity; subject found clothing behind their residence. An informational case was pulled. 

On July 21:

● 12:56 p.m., Police responded to the 700 block of 17th St for the report of Disorderly Conduct; verbal argument occurring. Contact with all parties was made and verbal warnings were issued. 

● 3:18 p.m., Police responded to the 700 block of 17th St for the report of a Theft; purses that were sent via mail were stolen. This matter remains under investigation. 

On July 22:

● 3:37 p.m., a 76 year old Brodhead woman was cited in the 1100 block of 1st Center Ave for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control following a traffic crash. 

● 8:51p.m., a 67 year old Huntersville, NC man was cited in the 2100 block of 1st Center Ave for Unsafe Lane Deviation. 

On July 23:

● 6:29 p.m., an 18 year old Orfordville man was cited in the 400 block of 1st St for Speed. 

● 10:30 p.m., a 41 year old Janesville man was cited in the 400 block of 1st St for Speed.  

● 10:30 p.m., a 27 year old Belleville man was arrested in the N400 block of E 2nd Ave for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, Operating While Intoxicated & Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Content. 

On July 24:

● 3:25 a.m., Police responded to the 500 block of 1st Center Ave. for the report of a Traffic Hazard; a tree down in the roadway from a storm. This matter was reported to Brodhead Public Works.  

● 8:05 a.m., Police responded to the 500 block of 13th St. for the report of a Traffic Hazard; a large limb in the roadway from a storm. This matter was reported to Brodhead Public Works. 

● 8:28 p.m., Police responded to the 400 block of W 3rd Ave. for the report of Disorderly Conduct; a juvenile threw a rock at another subject. Contact was made with the juvenile and parents; a verbal warning was issued.

On July 25:

● 11:16 a.m., Police responded to the 1000 block of 12th St. for the report of Fraud; a subject’s information being used in a fraudulent Facebook account. This matter remains under investigation.  

● 3:53 pm, Police responded to the 100 block of E 9th Ave. for the report of a Traffic Complaint; a vehicle driving erratically. No violations were observed in the City. 

● 5:56 pm, Police responded to the 900 block of 19th St. for the report of an Animal Problem; a chicken tied outside of a residence without food or water. Police checked on the animal and observed food, water and shade being provided.
