BRODHEAD - Lloyd L. Johnson Sr., age 91, passed away at his home on Monday, July 27, 2009. He was born on October 9, 1917 in S. Beloit, IL, the son of John and Stella (Kuntzelman) Johnson. His first marriage was to Helen Morelock on August 9, 1946 in Rockton, IL. She passed away on June 17, 1978. He then married Hazel Nyborg Johnson on February 17, 1979 in Brodhead.

Lloyd farmed for many years in the Brodhead/Albany area and also worked for Advance Transformer of Monroe for 15 years, retiring in 1982. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, stationed in England. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, and loved camping, bowling, traveling, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Hazel, Brodhead; a son, William (LeAnne) Johnson, Dixon, MO; stepson, Robert (Debra) Johnson, Madison, WI; stepdaughter, Stella Clark, Brodhead; a daughter-in-law, Jane Johnson, Janesville; sisters, Velda Olson, Brodhead, Viola Tschabold, Escanaba, MI; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Helen, a son, Lloyd Johnson Jr., brothers Jesse, Clyde, and Laurence Johnson, and sister, Verna Johnson, and Vita Sill.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, with Pastor Larry Froemming officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, with Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Monroe Clinic Hospital.
