Leslie A. Bennett, formerly of Monroe, 66 years old, went home to be with the Lord Thursday May 1, 2014 in Irvine CA after a long battle with cancer. Les was born June 13, 1947 in Beloit WI, the son of Yvonne (Schwitz) and Arthur Bennett. He graduated from Beloit Memorial in 1965. Les retired in 2010 from the UW Madison Maintenance Dept. Les enjoyed camping, fishing and old movies. Les was also an avid reader, his favorite being Louis L'amour. But most of all Les enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

His five granddaughters were his pride and joy. Whether it was camping, fishing or watching the girls in all their sports activities of swimming, softball, basketball and football, he was always there showing support.

Les is survived by his wife Shary (Kramer) Bennett of Irvine CA. Four sons Michael (Catrina) Bennett of Monroe, Ricky (Theresa) Bennett of Monroe, Lee (Debbie) Bennett of Monroe, Jonathan (Katie) Bennett of Sparta WI. Also surviving are four stepchildren Rachel Walters Schild of Monroe, Steve (Jamie) Dahlke, Dave (Danielle) Dahlke and Kathy (Misty) Sarmiento. Brothers: Jim (Hope) Bennett of Deforest WI, Clifford Bennett of Monroe, Kenny (Sheri) Bennett of Beloit WI, and Chucky Bennett of New Glarus WI. Seven grandchildren Paisley, Jessie, Melissa, Kristy, Alisha, Liam and Quinn. Also surviving are 11 step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and family friends, especially in special camping partner Verna Jochimsen.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and one brother Richard Bennett.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 2-6 at Hope Community Church, 2902 13th St. Monroe WI. For those who prefer, Memorials may be sent in Leslie's name to N4416 Dutch Hollow Rd, Monroe WI 53566.
