Leona M. Homb

Leona M. Homb, age 90, of South Wayne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital after a very brief illness. She was born in Wiota township on July 31, 1918, the daughter of Marvin and Elizabeth (Spore) Wicker. She graduated from Argyle High School. On June 2, 1949 she married Robert Homb at St. Joseph's rectory in Gratiot, WI. Leona worked for 20 years along side her husband as a postal clerk at the South Wayne Post Office, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by two sons, Neil of South Wayne, and Loren of Monroe, and one daughter Gayleen (Robert Wyss) of Monroe; Leona was the proud grandparent of three grandchildren, Alex, Alyssa and Jason Homb of Belleville. She is also survived by one sister, Marian Zeilinger of Long Island, NY, five brothers-in-law, Ken (Sandy) Homb, Ray (Betty) Homb, Vern (Jeanette) Homb, Clyde Homb, Roger Homb; two sisters-in-law, Grace Homb, and Ruth (Gary) Komprood and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert and two brothers, Ralph and Lloyd.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1 P.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, Monroe. Burial will be in the East Wiota Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the South Wayne Community Fund, South Wayne Fire Department or Green County EMS.
