LAKE SUMMERSET - Mrs. Laurie A. Ludolph, 57, Lake Summerset, died Friday, May 1, 2015 following a valiant two-year battle against brain cancer.

She was born June 27, 1957 in Freeport, the daughter of George and Ida (Vittorio) Saar. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1975, from Highland Community College in Freeport with degrees as a licensed practical nurse in 1977 and as a registered nurse in 1981, and from St. Francis University in Joliet with a bachelor's degree in health care administration in 1994.

She married Keith Ludolph, her high school sweetheart, June 10, 1978 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Freeport. Laurie was employed at nursing homes in Freeport and Ottawa, Ill., and at hospitals in Freeport, Monroe, Rockford and Streator, Ill. She also served as the school nurse for the Durand School District from 1993-2002.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Ida Saar of Freeport, her husband, Keith, at home, three daughters, Erika Uotani of San Diego, Calif., Andrea (Adam) Larson of Durand and Sarah (Jeremy) Marsh of Freeport; two brothers, Larry (Barbara A.) Saar of Lake Summerset and David (Anna) Saar of Hebron, Maine; three sisters, Barbara (Brian Sneed) J. Saar of Bristol, R.I., Mary (Nathan) Meier of Freeport and Catherine (Ken) Ross of German Valley; and four grandchildren, Ella and Audrey Uotani, and Ava and Aaron Larson.

She was preceded in death by her father, George L. Saar, Oct. 6, 1999.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 6:30 pm, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Lodge in Lake Summerset, 1202 Lake Summerset Road, Davis, IL. Please enter at the main gatehouse on Best Road. A visitation will be held at the Lodge from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Thursday, with a meal to start at 5:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established for the Highland Community College Foundation because of Laurie's strong support for secondary education.
