Larry J. Drees, 60, passed away Saturday February 18, 2017 at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo, IA, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice.
Larry was born, June 11, 1956 in Manchester, Iowa to Reynold and Marian (Voss Gienapp) Drees. He graduated in 1974 from West Delaware High School in Manchester, IA. Larry married Sharon (Logan) Drees-Stewart in 1976 and they later divorced. Larry and his family moved to Wisconsin in 1979, where he worked as a farm-hand for local farmers for many years, while also spending several years maintaining a family hog farm. Larry moved to Las Vegas in 1994, where he lived until returning to Iowa in 2014. He was fond of drives through the Iowa countryside looking at farm land and spending time with is grandchildren. He will be remembered by many for his enjoyment of baseball and especially the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his four children Dustin (Sherie) Drees of Whitefish Bay, WI, Amy (Don) Johnson of Marion, IA, Valarie (Eric) Keller of Janesville, IA, and Mandy (Luis) Lobato of Gratiot, WI; eleven grandchildren Avery, Elliot, Emrie, Carie, Torie, Dalton, Quinton, Kane, Kruz, Kora, and Sebastian; six siblings, Carol Behnken of Marion, William (Roxie) Drees of Nebraska, Paula (Chuck) Zangerle of Manchester, Margaret (Merle) Nueton of Manchester, Robert Drees of Nebraska, and Carl (Lori) Drees of West Des Moines, and a sister-in-law Rosemary Drees of Manchester.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Tirsa Drees; and his brother, Daniel Drees.
The family will hold a private service. Friends and family are invited to remember Larry at Hambone's in Gratiot, WI on Sunday February 26, 2017 from 2 P.M. until 4 P.M.
