"Korky" Robert Calvin Krengel Jr.

MADISON - "Korky" Robert Calvin Krengel Jr., age 61 of rural Blanchardville, formerly of Madison, died on Thursday evening, July 17, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Madison with his wife Beverly by his side after a short illness. He was born to Robert Calvin and Maxine (Attewell) Krengel on January 12, 1953 in Tomah, Wisconsin and then grew up in Madison. He was a 1971 graduate of Madison East High School. After graduation, he served four years in the United States Air Force as a corrosion control specialist, and was stationed in Montana, Thailand and Michigan. Upon his return to Madison Robert opened his own business, Korky's Shoe Repair, where he was the owner/operator for sixteen years. After selling the business, he worked in construction, as a cook and bartender, at Springs Window Fashions, and at Boumatic, as a paint shop operator and a machinist. Korky had a special close relationship with his father. For the last sixteen years, Robert lived in rural Blanchardville.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverly Gilbertson of rural Blanchardville; two children, Eric (Alesha) Krengel of Madison and Tami (Jeff) Hammond of Oregon; his mother, Maxine Krengel of Madison; a sister, Toni Lynn (Mike) Gorman of Madison; and three grandchildren, Paxton, Makayla and Graysonn.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
