MT. HOREB - Kenneth F. Schumacher, age 87 of Mt. Horeb, WI, entered into his eternal home peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at home with his family at his side. He was born July 23, 1927 in Browntown, WI to Samuel and Hermina (Fiechter) Schumacher. He was united in marriage to Jean S. Doyle on February 14, 1949 at East Wiota Lutheran Parsonage. Ken lived out his passion as an expert Swiss Cheesemaker in southwestern Wisconsin until becoming legally blind at the age of 51. Other passions were his family, fishing, archery, hunting, the Green Bay Packers and goofing off. He attended the Lions Camp for the Blind in the Stevens Point area for many summers, which was one of the highlights of his year. This gave him the pleasure of making new friends, young and old. The family wishes to thank The Lions Club for making this possible. Ken was a proud army veteran during the end of WWII, where he served some of his time in Tokyo and the Pacific. On October 2012, he had the privilege of going to Washington D.C. with the Wisconsin Badger Honor Flight, for WWII Veterans. A heartfelt thanks to the Badger Honor Flight, and all of the many volunteers for a trip of a lifetime. Ken loved life, and lived it to its fullest. He had a great sense of humor and always had a story to tell. He is deeply missed by us all.
