Kenneth F. "Ken" Mahlkuch, age 69 of Monroe, died on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Surrounded by his family, Ken went on to meet his heavenly family, daughter Dinese and parents Fritz and Ellen Mahlkuch.
Ken was born in Monroe on August 6, 1941 to Frederick A. "Fritz" and Ellen (Boyer) Mahlkuch. He married Yvonne Sarbacker on June 17, 1962 at the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda. Ken and Yvonne spent several years of their married life in Juda before moving to Janesville in 1977.
Ken spent many years driving semi and when he retired he turned his love of woodworking and carpentry into a business making custom furniture and home remodeling in the Janesville area. He and Yvonne moved back to Monroe in 2005.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, telling stories, hunting when he was able, gardening, fishing, and a good laugh.
Ken is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Monroe; three sons, David Mahlkuch of Janesville, Dennis and Darren Mahlkuch of Monroe; three granddaughters; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Mahlkuch and Sue (Ron) Disch, both of Monroe; his mother-in-law, Helen Sarbacker of Browntown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dinese; and father-in-law, Earl Sarbacker.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Randall Kauffman and Paul Kennell of the Jordan Creek Amish Mennonite Church officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe V.F.W. Post #2312. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
