Kathryn Jane Scheider, 85, formerly of Orangeville and a recent Oakley Court resident, died Wednesday May 4, 2011 at Manor Court of Liberty Village Freeport. Born December 6, 1925 in Freeport she was the daughter of Charles Washburn and Susan Caroline (Lloyd) Burington. Kathryn was a 1943 graduate of Orangeville High School and the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1947. On March 7, 1948 she and Norman Scheider were united in marriage.

She was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church and taught Bible Study classes for many years. Other memberships include United Methodist Woman, Eastern Star, Stephenson County Home Extension, and the Deaconess School of Nursing Alumni. Kathryn was a homemaker and a loving supporter of Norman's decision to attend college, seminary, and to become a pastor. She later worked as a school librarian. She always made family and friends a priority with her love and sense of humor.

Surviving are two children Douglas (Patricia) Scheider, Freeport, and Sue Anne (Thomas) Odom of St. Louis, MO; 2 grandchildren Daniel (Sarah) Scheider, Freeport, and Karen (Eric) White of Lena; 2 great-grandchildren Chloe White and Ella Scheider; brother-in-law Duane Scheider of Cedarville; three nephews Charles Nicks, Dakota, Joel (Beverly) Scheider, Freeport, and Neal Scheider, Cedarville; great-nephew Chad Nicks; great-niece Tanya Nicks and great-great-niece Jada Love. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Reverend Norman Scheider, and a sister Gertrude Lee.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Orangeville United Methodist Church and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Orangeville United Methodist Church with Reverend CheonEui Oh officiating. A memorial has been established in her name.
