LENA - Joyce E. Rees, 79, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Lena Living Center in Lena. Joyce was born on June 14, 1934 in Freeport, IL. She was the daughter of Joseph and Genora (Yoder) Oppold. She married Alfred J. Rees on June 25, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they farmed his father's farm on Rees Road for 8 years and then they moved to the farm on Hwy 20 where they resided for 40 years. Joyce was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lena, and helped with the blood drives at St. Joseph. Joyce loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening and cooking as well as going to the boat.

Survivors include two daughters: Patti (Jeff) Rakowska of Lena, Cheri (Steve) Broge of Monroe, WI. Three grandchildren: Jeremy (Toni) Broge of Monroe, WI, Stacey (Corey) Steinmann of Monroe, WI, Karen (Nathan) Hensal of Lena, IL; six great-grandchildren: Montana Steinmann, Aleta, Alyssa, Alex Broge, Andrew, Jacob Hensal. Sisters: Betty Duray of Freeport, IL, Marie Pieper of Freeport, IL; brother John (Shirley) Oppold of Pearl City, IL; brother In-law Donald (Ilene) Rees of Lena, and sister In-law Eloise Rees of Stockton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred on June 25, 2002 and two brothers Frank Oppold and Joseph Oppold.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 28th 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lena.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 25th 2013 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. The family invites you to attend a luncheon held immediately after the visitation at Coach's Restaurant in Lena.

Rev. Max Striedl will officiate.

Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lena.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
