John W. Gordon, 61, of Beloit, WI, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, WI.

He was born July 24, 1951 in Darlington, WI, the son of Lester and Harriet (McNett) Gordon. John was a 1970 graduate of Darlington High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Rock County. John married Linda Draves on March 25, 1978 in Beloit, WI.

John was employed by Beloit Corporation, Stateline Foundry and the Winnebago Foundry. He enjoyed reading, camping in Montello at his place on Puckaway Shores, gambling, going for drives in the country and spending time with his family. John was a Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He also attended all the Beloit Snappers and Milwaukee Brewers games as often as he could.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gordon of Beloit, WI; two daughters, Sherri (Nathan) Bennington of Beloit, WI, and Stephanie (Ryan) Gitzlaff of Poynette, WI; five grandsons, Michael, Nathan and Clifford Bennington, Cody Gordon and Hunter Gitzlaff; eight brothers and sisters, Phil (Donna) Gordon of Shullsburg, WI, Bev Steffes of Monroe, WI, Tom (Donna) Gordon of Benton, WI, Mary (Denny) Sigafus of Mazomanie, WI, Sue (Mike) Isely of Monroe, WI, Lori (Rick) Hadju of Montello, WI, Larry Gordon of Monroe, WI, and Rick (Theresa) Gordon of Hartland, WI; sisters-in-law, Pam (Peter) Rounds and Janice Jacobs both of Beloit, WI; brothers-in-law, Donald (Penny) Draves, Harry (Karen) Draves and Ronald (Dawn) Draves all of Beloit, WI; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, son, Daniel, sister, Linda Ubersox, mother-in-law, Hazel Draves, sister-in-law, Janet, brothers-in-law, Chuck Ubersox, Matt Steffes and Russell Jacobs.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI with Lt. Rodney Morin. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
