John Tuescher Jr., age 78, of Monroe, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on October 31, 1934 the son of John and Nellie (Ramsier) Tuescher, Sr. John was a graduate of Darlington High School.

John served in the U.S. Army from February 17, 1955 - February 15, 1957 as an SP3; receiving the Good Conduct Medal, he was stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO.

John and Kathryn Bartelt were married on January 18, 1958 at St. John's United Church of Christ, celebrating 55 years of marriage in 2013.

John was employed as a cheesemaker at the Gutzmer Cheese Factory for many years; was an insurance agent for Rural Insurance Co; Swiss Colony; and later was rural letter carrier for Monroe Post office.

John was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Rural Letter Carriers Association; Union Steward; National Cheesemaker Center Volunteer; Am Vets; Yesteryear Auto Club & Antique Wheelers Club.

He is survived by his children: Jeff (Julie) Tuescher of Browntown; Greg Tuescher of Waunakee; Kristi (Tom Griffin) Tuescher of Waterloo; grandchildren: Hailey Griffin of Waterloo; Margaret Griffin of Watertown; Amanda Griffin of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Kathryn, in March 2013; daughter, Lisa Tuescher and sister, Shirley Hoffman.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr. and 18th Ave. in Monroe.

A memorial fund is being established in John's memory.
