John R. Wagner, McConnell, passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at his home following a long illness. He was born on October 3, 1923 to John J. and Inez (Frautschy) Wagner. John graduated from Orangeville High School in 1940. He lived his entire life in rural McConnell, Illinois on his family's sesquicentennial farm established by his family in 1854. John was a conscientious steward of the land and loved all facets of farming. His desire to help many in his community, his intelligence, and his sharing knowledge of the wide array of topics will make John a warm memory for family and friends alike.

He is survived by his niece, Lynann (Mains) Swinda of McConnell, great nephew Robert (Jenny) Swinda of Dakota, and great- niece Jacquelyn (Darin) Diffenderfer of Lena and great- great nieces from both families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucille M. Mains and brother in-law E.J. (Cookie) Mains.

Private graveside services will be held with burial at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his memory. Arrangements were made by Leamon Funeral Home Lena, Illinois. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
