KENDALLVILLE, IND. - John L. Martin, age 46, of Kendallville passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 suddenly at home after a lengthy battle with heart problems.
John was born in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin on April 15, 1965 to Karl L. Martin and Virginia A. (Paul) Martin.
He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1983. John later graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1992 where he earned a double major with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
John served his country in the United States Army Reserves with the 389th Engineering Battalion in Wisconsin where he attained the rank of Captain. He was honorably discharged in 2000.
He married Elizabeth A. Nelson on May 22, 1993 in Monroe, Wisconsin. She survives in Kendallville with their three children.
John has worked as an engineer for Dow Corning of Kendallville for the last six years.
John spent his early years enjoying snowmobile racing, motor bike riding and working at the local hardware store.
John enjoyed many hobbies with his many interests. He loved cooking, racing and antiqueing. If there was ever anything broken; John used his abilities to repair it, sharing his knowledge of the job with his children. John loved his children. He fostered their education by his daily helping them with school work, always urging them to do their best.

Father-in-law; Paul M. and Maren Nelson of Monroe, Wisconsin;
One Brother-in-Law; Martin P. and Angela Nelson of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin;
One Sister-in-Law; Kristin L. Patterson of Lena, Illinois;

He was preceded in death by his father; Karl L. Martin and one brother; Randall J. Martin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 7:00 PM the Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will be at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be made to American Heart Association and the Noble County Humane Society.
