John "Jack" N. Jones

BRODHEAD - John "Jack" N. Jones, age 89, of Brodhead, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe, WI. He was born on August 29, 1918 in Albany, WI, the son of David and Elizabeth (Hosely) Jones. He married Mildred Paulson on February 15, 1941 at the parsonage of Luther Valley Church, rural Beloit.

Jack and his wife had farmed in rural Rock and Green counties until moving to Brodhead in 1952. He then worked at Freeman Shoes in Beloit for several years, before starting carpentry work for S. A. Haugen, Maurice Satrang and Norm Thostenson, and Merlin Thompson, then retired. Jack was a member of Luther Valley Church, rural Beloit, and an honorary member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead. He loved watching the ball leagues at Legion Park, Brodhead, and The Andy Griffith Show. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved hearing them sing, watching them dance and play sports. He took great pride in all of their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred, The New Glarus Home; a daughter, Nancy (Dean) Walters, Brodhead; grandchildren, Chris (Shonna) Jones, DeeAnn (Allen) Heggi, Natalie (Jeff) Ponkauskas, Dena (Lloyd) McKee, and Nick (Mindy) Walters; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Jordan, Trey Jones, Amanda and Derrick Ponkauskas, Jessica McKee, Lea and Bryce Heggi, and Dakota and Brant Walters; a special sister and brother-in-law, John and Marian Jensen. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Jones; daughter-in-law, Linda (Keen) Jones; sisters, Ruth Freye, Norma Blumer, and Dorene Culles; brothers, Bruce, Kenneth in infancy; and in-laws, Albert and Minnie Amanda (Olson) Paulson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Luther Valley Lutheran Church, rural Beloit, with Pastors Mary Froiland and Sandi Olson Decker officiating. Burial will be in East Luther Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI. A memorial fund will be established.

As a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be sadly missed and loved forever!
